Refreshing Baroque: The Salzburg Residenz Platz Square

Since 2014 mozart 100® participants start and finisher their individual running festival on Residenzplatz Square. The construction of the Residenzplatz Square is due to Archbishop Wolf Dietrich. To make room for this square, 55 town houses were demolished in 1557. The old cathedral cemetery had to give way in favour of Residenzplatz Square too.

Coming from the west, crystal clear lake Fuschl is the gate to the world famous Salzkammergut. This up to 65 meters deep lake is surrounded by impressive mountains: Schober, Ellmaustein and Schafberg.

632 Steps Lead to a Unique City Panorama

Mount Kapuzinerberg is one of the five City mountains of Salzburg. We consider it the one with the most impressive view of Salzburg's historic city centre. Mount Kapuzinerberg was already populated by the Celts several centuries B.C. and contains many energetic points all over this mountain. This might be one of the reasons why all participants conquered the 632 steps uphill so successfully...

mozart 100® at UTMB® 2014

The epicenter or the Tour de France of  trail and ultra running is the Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc ®. Throughout the last week of August, the region around Chamonix is in pure UTMB® fever. Organiser Josef Mayerhofer was in Chamonix as representative for mozart 100® . Although not as an active runner, but as an ambassador for mozart 100® 2015, which is a qualification race for the UTMB® again (2 qualification points).

Salzburg's Alpine Jungle: Glasenbach Glamm

At dawn, when the first of our ultra runners make their way through the Glasenbach Klamm, they cross a piece of alpine jungle just outside of Salzburg. Lush greenery, a seemingly high alpine stream and a special light are, apart from challenging climbs, the hallmarks of this part of  the mozart 100 course.

Duel of the giants - Dave James and Czaba Nemeth kick 2014 for the first podium

He will forever be the very first mozart 100® finisher in our supreme discipline over 100 km: the exceptional American ultra runner Dave James won the premiere of mozart 100® in 2012. This year Dave will return to Salzburg and face serious competition from previous year's winner , the Hungarian Czaba Nemeth.
