We are looking forward to all participants and expect a record number of participants.
TWO SPECIAL TRAIL STARS AT THE START OF MOZART 100
We are especially looking forward to two exceptional athletes. The 27-year-old Spaniard Pau Capell is the winner of the Ultra-Trail World Tour 2018 and recently won the Transgrancanaria for the third time in a row. In the women’s event, Caroline Chaverot from France is the hottest contender for victory. She won the UTMB in 2016. We are curious whether they can live up to their role as favourites.
Due to official requirements, the start will take place at 05:00 and not at four o’clock as initially planned and communicated. The course remains unchanged except for one modification. The longest ultra-distance will be crowned with a real summit crossing – though an alpine experience is not required. In 2019, after St. Gilgen the route leads via Sausteigalm to the summit of the Zwölferhorn at 1,500 m with a breathtaking panorama. This extends the mozart 100 to 112 km and 5,140 metres in altitude. The cut off time will be extended from 20 to 22 hours.
mozart 100® is still certified with 5 ITRA points and it is again a qualification run for the UTMB as well as for the Western States 2020.
This competition enjoys a completely new route. The start takes place in the marvelous village of St. Gilgen and leads via Weißwand (White Wall) and Mozartblick (Mozart’s View) to Fuschl and then back to the city of Salzburg. Thus also the marathon runners benefit from the Wolfgangsee and Fuschlsee lakes. With 42 km and 1,890 metres of positive elevation, the competition is more demanding than in the past but a special trail jewel. The mozart marathon is certified with 2 ITRA points.
MOZART CITY TRAIL
Accompanying persons and hobby runners have wished for a shorter route closer to the centre. mozart City Trail is now 9 km long and therefore feasible for everyone.
START AND FINISH AREA KAPITELPLATZ SQUARE
In 2018 Salzburg’s Kapitelplatz Square has proven itself as a great starting and finishing area in the city. This spacious but beautifully square, embedded between Salzburg Cathedral and Hohensalzburg Fortress, creates a wonderful ambience.
